San Diego Mosque Shooting Shocks Community

A tragic shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego has left the city in shock today after multiple people were killed in what police are investigating as a possible hate crime.

According to authorities, two teenage suspects opened fire outside the mosque complex on Monday afternoon. Three men, including a security guard, lost their lives before the suspects were later found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

The Islamic Center of San Diego is one of the largest mosques in the region and also includes a school for children. Officials confirmed that all children inside the school were safely evacuated during the chaos.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing, but early evidence suggests anti-Muslim hate rhetoric may have played a role in the attack. The FBI has joined the investigation.

One of the victims, security guard Amin Abdullah, is being remembered as a hero. Community members say he warned teachers and staff to lock classroom doors, actions that may have saved many lives.

The attack has deeply affected San Diego’s Muslim community, especially as it happened close to important Islamic religious events. Leaders across California condemned the violence and called for stronger protection of places of worship.

This incident has also restarted conversations online about hate crimes, gun violence, and growing extremism among young people. Many people are asking how warning signs can be identified earlier before violence happens.

As more details emerge, the city continues mourning the victims and supporting affected families.
